The first meeting of the Joint Monitoring Committee was organised in Budapest on the 14th February, 2008. This was the official formulation of this committee to draft its rules of procedures, finalising its composition, which was defined to be in balance between the two sides of the border. The basic documents to regulate its work were also discussed and approved.
This will be the body to negotiate and make strategic decisions about the implementation of the programme and to endorse the main documents of programme implementation. But one of its most important tasks will be to select the projects to be co-financed by the programme.
The Committee is chaired by the Managing Authority to ensure the compliance with the available community and national rules.
